I’m an educator, but more importantly I’m a learner.
I have been teaching at Mountain Valley High School since 1998, spending 10 years as an English teacher before switching to technology electives courses like video production, Architectural Design and Engineering. During that time I have had to re-invent my classroom and myself several times to appeal to the evolving needs of education and the interests of my students.
I am passionate about technology integration. I believe effectively use of technology by both staff and students can be a game changer. And I’ve seen it happen, in my classroom and in the schools of many educators I have worked with. I want to be part of that sea change in education.
I thrive on providing good professional development. I have over a decade of experience in working with professional adults learners on areas ranging from Improv, Proficiency-Based Education, Technology Integration and Leadership in the Teaching profession.
I believe educators need to be advocates for the work they do, for their students and for the teaching profession. I am an active part of the Maine Teacher of the Year Association, and as Oxford County Teacher of the Year in 2014, I was a semi-finalist for the 2015 Maine State Teacher of the Year. In 2016 I was named an “Inspiring Educator” by WCSH-6 TV and The Maine Education Association.
