I am in constant motion and super fortunate to be exploring several of my professional passions at this moment in time. My background and education are in Special Education and creating specially designed learning opportunities for struggling learners.
Having my own children led me to my second career as an early childhood educator where I discovered and created new talents and passions, specifically around early literacy and language development. KJS Early Literacy Initiative, LLC was born when my colleague and friend, Carrie Thurston and I created a way to combine both early childhood literacy with our strengths in reaching the struggling learner.
Prior to becoming a high school special education teacher, I earned my M.Ed. in educational technology. My work emphasizes my passion for using iPads to support early literacy, and I received an award from the State of Maine, Department of Education for my work in this area.
Joining Wicked Decent Learning is an incredible opportunity to work with three educators that I admire and learn from every day. My skill sets complement the robust list of creative educational talents of my three WDL colleagues. I am lucky to work with them even though it means listening to an incredible amount of Star Wars references and other bits of random trivia.
